Lehto's Original Famous Pasties

Lehto's Pasty Shop St. Ignace Mi.

2045 West US 2 St. Ignace, Michigan, 49781 (906)643-8542

Lehto's Pasties was started in 1947 by Mr. Lehto after he served in WWII and was honorably discharged from the army in 1946. It is one of the Original Famous Pasty Shops located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Lehto's is still family owned and operated to this very day by Mr. & Mrs. Lehto daughter Katherine.

This is such a quaint little pasty shop located about 6 miles west of St. Ignace MI on US2.

We were lucky enough to have a chance to stop in and try one of the Original Famous Lehto's Pasties on our last trip to the U.P.

There was a friend of the family working the day we stopped in and we talked with him. He told us that Mrs. Lehto had worked in the kitchen making pasties up until she was 88 years old.

We purchased 4 frozen pasties to take home and headed out to our car. Once out there we thought that is was silly of us not to get some that were ready to eat as we had not eaten lunch yet so we went back in and purchased 2 hot ones. WOW how wonderful they were and the crust was one of the best we had ever tried. Unlike Dobber's Pasties whose ingredients are diced, Lehto's was alot more mixed togeher.

So on your next trip to the Beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan be sure to stop in and try one of Lehto's Famous Original Pasties. Lehto's Famous Pasties

Now we have been driving past here several times a year and never took the time to stop and see what they were all about. Then back in Febuary of 2008 We received a e-mail from a woman named Mary. She was looking for information about Lehto's for a gentelman friend (Leonard) of hers who had vacationed in the U.P. from 1951 to 1990 with his family. Everytime they visited they always made a point to stop at Lehto's.

Here is some interesting history about Lehto's: Mrs. Lehto celebrates 90th Birthday
