My Parents where from the Iron Mountain/Kingsford Mich. area(in the U.P.), so growing up (1960's-1980's)we returned there every summer for vacation/visit and I recall watching for and stopping at several little pasty shops/huts/shacks along US Route 2(west)on the way to Grampas house, what a great memory ! each shop had there own little twist,But I must admit one of the BEST pasties I recall came from down the street from my Grampas house(309 Dorland,Kingsford,Mich.),there was a family with the last name Rose, they made pasties on the weekends to sell to the locals as I was told, The crust was very soft, flaky, golden brown, stuffed generously with meat and vegetables absolutely Perfect !,No disrespect to my Mother as she also made a pretty good pasty !, But those Rose family pasties took the prize !, thats my Pasty story.
